Shared somatic practice at your fingertips

A virtual somatic practice studio for weary humans who care deeply.
Are you currently:
Swamped with responsibilities?
Frozen with worry?
Weary of the relentless news cycle?
Unsure how to survive some days let alone thrive?
Exhaustion is an entirely reasonable response to the incredibly painful things we are witnessing and experiencing in the world.
So is frustration, concern, distraction or withdrawal.
We are giving our all. Living through uncertainty with legitimate concerns for our safety and wellbeing.
Capitalist wellness culture tells us that if we would just optimize our habits, we’d be able to do it all with grace and joy.
But the truth is, a new 6 am jogging ritual, weight-loss plan or file organizing system can’t address the entirety of what we need.
What if, instead of falling into that trap, we decide we’re already worth tending to, just as we are?
Our roles require so much hope. And, with the current state of the world we have countless real reasons to feel hopeless, anxious and unsafe.
If we’re going to find our way through these times, I believe our embodied connections—with self, nature and each other can provide us with a path we can follow.
How can this virtual practice space help?
I often find myself saying something like this to my patients:
“Obviously a massage isn’t going to fix all the challenging things you’re dealing with, but it might offer a dose of connection, support and coherence to your nervous system and to your whole, human self, to help you carry on in the ways that matter to you.”
This online space is my way of offering something similar, both for my patients between sessions and for people who aren’t able to work with me 1:1.
There’s no single solution to the problems we’re facing. We’re in need of so much creative problem solving these days.
Connecting online and practicing together is one way for us to do that.
Your Guide:
I’m Annie Bray (she/her)
I’m a Trauma-Informed Somatic Practitioner and Registered Massage Therapist.
My approach to massage therapy, mentorship and teaching is informed by 20 years of manual therapy and concurrent work and study in trauma recovery, community mental health, applied polyvagal theory, meditation, yoga and somatics.
I’ve been guiding classes, workshops and retreats, both online and in person, for over twenty years.
It takes resilience to be here. The wear and tear is real. The reasons to check out, reasonable and plenty.
Exhaustion is normal. All of us are living in an unjust system that asks us to bypass our physical and emotional needs, disconnecting us from our bodies.
Somatics can help us reclaim the experience of feeling reliably well-met, relatively safe and capable of engaging with life meaningfully.
